War has not ceased since the advent of mankind. War and civilization have always been intertwined, both catalyzing and promoting the development and progress of human civilization, and constantly threatening the survival of humanity itself. War accompanies the revolution of society and brings about a new pattern. In ancient times, wars between various tribes contributed to the integration of ethnic groups and the formation of nations, and were the direct cause of the great migration of peoples; wars between different ethnic groups within nations led to the independence of nations and the birth of new nations; wars between political groups within nations led to the change of regimes, such as the civil war between the Communist Party and the State. Besides, in the West, religious wars due to religious beliefs, such as crusades and holy wars, are also common historical phenomena.

Compared to armed conflicts, confrontation forms, war manifests itself as, first, brutality, with both sides attacking the other side by all available means of violence; second, devastation, with confrontation costing one side the destruction of the other; third, purpose, until the other side succumbs and achieves its goal; and fourth, permanence, with conventional wars lasting for years or tens of years, and modern high-tech wars lasting for months to years. Any war has been planned and prepared.
